Title:"Saog ta"

Size: 21x29 inches Watercolor painting on Arches 300gsm

Artwork Date: June 2023

Artist:Ann Grebel Arroyo-Villanueva

About the Artwork"Saog ta" is a Minasbate phrase means "Let's go to the beach and fetch somebody or something since it's low tide." People in Masbate could not dock near the beach when the sea water was too shallow, especially at low tide. This moment is enthralling and significant to me. It always reminds me of the laid-back life on the island that many people, including myself, are missing as a result of the inevitable progress. There is a pier in that area now. The last time I checked that carriage was at the bay side slowly disintegrating because it is of no more use since the long way of a newly constructed pier served as the concrete gangway for people coming from the boats and ships to the mainland.I hope to immortalize such a nostalgic scenery in my watercolor art and have it documented for the future Masbateño generations' legacy. Progress indeed is amazing and history is a sweet nostalgia. Scene: Poblacion, Milagros, Masbate - hubasan /now the pier area
